Is It Ici Yet?
Today’s Daily Candy SF article “The Straight Scoop” leads me to believe that Ici, inspiration for failed quests, may finally be open. Their website is no help, with the statement “opening late August 2006″ still up on this, the 5th of September, but a quick phone call confirms that they opened their doors this past Sunday. Time for another pilgrimage!

i had some of their ice cream sandwiches the other day.
the ice cream itself is a bit too “icy” - i prefer it creamier.
but the sandwich cookie was quite good. so good, in fact, i would have to recommend them.

We did actually make it over to Ici this past Saturday and I agree on both counts: the ice cream is too icy and the cookie is good. Overall though, that doesn’t add up to a strong recommendation from me.
I was also disappointed that there seem to be only 2 sandwich flavors per day. There were other ice cream flavors and combinations I would love to have tried.
And finally, neither a good nor a bad thing, but the sandwiches are smaller than the photos I’d seen had led me to expect.
