Hidden Jems in the Neighborhood

I’ve lived in California since 1998. From 2000-2002 I lived in Portola Valley. Other than the restaurant at the bottom of our hill, Woodside was the closest place to go for a meal out. So how is it, I wonder, that it took us until now to eat at The Village Pub?! I could make excuses, but it wouldn’t change anything. We are thoroughly disappointed in ourselves. We have missed out. We will be working to remedy our error with another visit soon. The lesson: do not overlook the places closest to home. They may just be worth traveling for.

I agree with you that Village Pub is worth repeat visits (although not sure what will happen after Chef Sullivan starts his new restaurant in the City). It seems the Peninsula is finally starting to develop a few worthwhile dining locales. If you have not yet tried it, check out Kaygetsu for Japanese, and Tamarine remains quite excellent.
